Kristina Lao (any pronouns) is an international, multi-disciplinary artist hailing from Hong Kong, with a rich background spanning Music, Film & TV.
With over 15 years immersed in the Media & Entertainment industry, Kristina's artistic foundation is built upon training at prestigious institutions such as the London School of Musical Theatre, The University of Hong Kong (Advanced Music Performance), and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (International Business). From National Theatre productions and song licensing agreements to appearances at mainstage festivals and within immersive experiences, Kristina’s diverse creative endeavors are fueled by a deep appreciation for language and a dedication to her craft.
Kristina’s artistic journey is marked by an adventurous spirit and a profound curiosity about the natural world and humanity. Her diverse experiences range from running a cattery in rural England and fronting a hilariously average cover band to receiving a coveted scholarship for Advanced Music Performance in Hong Kong and becoming the first Hong Konger accepted into the London School of Musical Theatre. She has collaborated with industry luminaries and performed at iconic London venues, later touring with Yellow Earth Theatre Company before transitioning to film and television after relocating to Vancouver.
Five years after moving to London, a visit to Vancouver resulted in immediate representation with Principals Talent. Shortly after her arrival, Kristina began working with Shane Savage. His theatrical background and coaching expertise proved invaluable, leading to a string of successful roles in film and television. Balancing local and international engagements, including a UK National Tour and numerous commercials, her screen credits expanded to include appearances on major platforms like Netflix, ABC, and Hallmark.
Based on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Watuth Peoples, Kristina continues to contribute to the Media & Entertainment community, advocating for sustainable careers for fellow artists and amplifying overlooked narratives through her co-created podcast, Bombshell Brunches, and various speaking and producing engagements with changemaking institutions including the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, DigiBC, re:Naissance Opera and Elimin8Hate.
